Erodium x
variabile ' Marrs'
Allan Robinson, UK
A
new form of E. x variabile with very deep red flowers, the deepest yet
encountered. It is very floriferous and an established plant is seldom
out of flower during the summer.
Although Mars,
the Red Planet, is very close at present, this form has really been named to
commemorate the 50th wedding anniversary of Dr. John Marr and his wife Wendy.
John Marr, a keen plant collector, once drove to Afghanistan and back in a
Morris Traveller in search of anything interesting, plantwise. His main
achievement was to discover Crocus robertianus.
